Three Garden Blessings I’m Grateful For This Year
Nov 28, 2025
Holidays always nudges me to slow down.
To step back from the rush, breathe a little deeper, and notice the quiet moments I’ve collected in my garden over the year.
This season, instead of thinking about “What did I harvest?” or “What worked and what failed?”, I found myself reflecting on the gifts the garden offered me — small but powerful blessings that shaped my days in ways I didn’t even realize.
Today, I want to share three of those blessings with you.
Whether you’re a new gardener, a busy parent, or someone dreaming about starting your first raised bed next year, I hope these moments encourage you to pause, slow down, and find inspiration in your own garden spaces.
🌿 1. A Small Moment That Grew Something Big
Some of my favorite memories this year came from planting the fall garden with my kids.
They were completely absorbed in the magic of the moment — chasing bees, staring at butterflies, nibbling basil straight from the plant, and taking pictures like tiny garden reporters.
Nothing about it was structured.
Nothing was “Pinterest-perfect.”
But the laughter, curiosity, and messy joy made the day unforgettable.
It reminded me that gardening isn’t supposed to be perfect — it’s supposed to be lived.
Those imperfect moments? They’re the ones that stay with you.
🌿 2. The Joy of Slowing Down
One blessing I didn’t even know I needed this year was my simple morning ritual:
walking the length of my garden with a cup of coffee in hand.
No goals.
No tasks.
Not even checking on plants.
Just breathing.
Just noticing.
Just being.
Those slow steps in the early morning sunlight — with bees already buzzing through the basil and butterflies flitting around — reset my whole nervous system.
They grounded me when life felt chaotic and reminded me that growth can be simple and quiet.
Even five mindful minutes outdoors can shift your whole day.
🌿 3. The Gift of Community & Connection
This year brought so many new faces into my gardening world — through workshops, consultations, community events, and heartfelt conversations both online and in person.
I’ve watched beginners plant their very first beds.
I’ve celebrated first tomatoes, first okras, first failures…and first comebacks.
Each connection has filled my cup and reminded me why I love teaching and supporting gardeners.
Gardening is never a solo journey.
The community you grow with becomes part of your harvest.
🌿🛠️ Tools I Truly Loved Using This Year

Think of it instead as a look into what genuinely supported my gardening life this year — tools I reached for over and over again because they made gardening easier, calmer, or more joyful.
